This blog is all about my life & opinions about everything. There are stories about my family & all the things that we want to do, including any plans for travel and future. There may be a lot of randomness....
Saying this has been a busy weekend for me would be an understatement! LOL, I'm used to being busy but this weekend I got very little sleep-I don't know how I got through Sunday. So when I received the official message from the schools saying that they would be closed on Monday, I was jumping for joy!!! Now, lets start in the beginning.....
Halloween is on Wednesday, so this weekend was our opportunity to party!! Some friends were hosting a Halloween Party at a club, Columbus 72, so we got a babysitter(my sister-in-law; lol) and went to party. It isn't often that we get a night out, very difficult to find babysitting now so a night out for just the two of us happens once, maybe twice a year. Saturday began with groceries, last minute shopping for my daughter's recital, then dropping off the kids at my sister-in-law's house to spend the night. Once we were back home, it was time to get ready. We dressed up as Hawk Eye and Black Widow....fairly easy costumes. I just needed to try to curl my hair, it was already dyed auburn, put on my green contacts and do my make-up. Hubby just need to get dressed....its so easy for men.....anyway, when we were finally ready we headed to our friend's house for some pre-party drinks....took some pics and then we were on our way to the club.
It was an awesome night of fun, dancing and drinking.....and I drank! Not as much as others, but enough that by 1 am I was feeling really out of it & sleepy. I am such a lite weight, lol, but I don't get crazy or nasty....no, no, not me people.....I get sleepy!! Oh, and I also get the giggles....sleepy & happy, that's me-I will laugh at anything, I will laugh and you won't even know what I'm laughing at. Eventually we got home, since I didn't want to fall asleep at the club, and I don't remember much else except that I slept like a baby :)
At 6 am the next morning, hubby woke up to go pick up the kids at his sister's. Thank God he let me sleep, by 9 am they were back and with breakfast, yay!!! I got out of bed-with a horrible headache, ate, showered and went on to do my hair, make-up and then my daughter's hair & make-up. I double checked all of the costumes and accessories and we left. We arrived at the Park Theater at noon, and I set up our spot in the dressing area. The show started at 1 pm and it started with the graduation, then awards for all of the students from the academy and this is where I run backstage to change my daughter into her first costume.
After ballet, it was Jazz......
Another Jazz dance....
and finally Salsa!!
The show was 6 hours long, but it was a great show!!! I was exhausted by the end of the night but it was finally over and we went to grab some food and went straight home to watch The Walking Dead! LOL!
Aside from the lack of sleep, I really enjoyed this weekend...watching my baby girl dance her heart out and hubby and I having a great time dressing up and partying with friends! Can't wait to do it again!!!
This morning I slept until 9:30 am but stayed in bed until 10 am, and I'm still tired. I could go get cozy under the covers again, but we've been taking down the window air conditioners and getting ready for Hurricane Sandy, which from the sounds I'm hearing its here!!! The wind out there is crazy!!! Luckily, we still have power so hopefully we will make it through this without a problem, even though hubby already has the generator ready in case we do lose power. So for now, I am happy that thanks to this storm the kids had no school so there was no 5 am wake up call and we were all able to rest. I really needed this, I slept, we ordered Chinese take-out and have been watching the news and movies. Nice and relaxing day!
Well, if you are a regular on my blog, you may have noticed my Disney trip countdown over on the right! It's been changed twice....YES-TWICE!! Last year we planned on going the week right after Thanksgiving but between the death of a family member and financial woes, we had to postpone it. We decided on going this year, again the week after Thanksgiving but this time our son is in his first year of high school and after much discussion we think it is not a good idea for him to miss a whole week of school. If he were a straight A student, then maybe yes, but he struggles with his schoolwork and I know that if he is out for a week, it will take him forever to catch up-I can't let his grades suffer over a vacation. Plus, we are still a bit tight on cash since I've been unemployed since June. So, our third attempt at this vacation will be for Easter week! This isn't ideal...we will be there in one of the busiest times of the year, prices are higher, parks will be crowded but it is in the Spring so I'm hoping it won't be too hot-hubby hates being at the parks in the middle of the summer-and the kids will be on vacation so no school will be missed! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this time it will happen!!! I've already made our ADR's so here is a pre-trip report in the making. I haven't really thought every detail out yet, but I have an idea of what our days will look like.
We will be leaving Jersey on Thursday(if driving) or Friday(if flying)-not sure how we are getting there yet! LOL!
We check out of the Nickelodeon Suites on Monday and then head to Disney's Art of Animation Resort where we will be for the next 5 nights! So, I will be planning our days around our ADR's.....we love eating at Disney, so here is the plan thus far:
Tuesday: This will be a really early morning for us since we are having breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table. This will be our 3rd time here, we love it....the food isn't anything special but the experience is wonderful! My daughter LOVES Cinderella and just being able to eat inside the castle and meet all of the princesses while we eat is so magical! It really puts us in a great mood for the rest of the day! This day looks like it will be a Magic Kingdom day - all day! I didn't plan for a lunch, we'll just grab some snacks unless we get really hungry. If this is the case, then I would love to stop by Be Our Guest Restaurant for lunch-which should be a Quick Service meal around this time. Dinner will be over at Chef Mickey's so we'll probably grab the monorail to get there and then come back to MK for fireworks!
Wednesday: Another early morning, except that instead of heading into a park, we are going to the Polynesian Resort for breakfast at 'Ohana. Another first, so I'm hoping that we all enjoy the food and experience! After 'Ohana we'll probably go to Epcot to enjoy areas of the park that we missed on Monday, and then have dinner at The Garden Grill Restaurant. This will also be the first time we eat here so, again I'm hoping for the best. My family can be a bit picky when it comes to food, LOL!
Thursday: I didn't plan a breakfast for today so we'll probably grab something at the resort before heading out to Hollywood Studios. Lunch will be at Mama Melrose's and then later that night we will catch Fantasmic!
Friday: Back to MK for breakfast at the Crystal Palace. After breakfast I may decide to get everyone out and into Animal Kingdom, hmmm-I may change my breakfast plans here :( I can't believe I forgot about planning a day in Animal Kingdom...well, I have time to work it out! Then dinner will be at the Polynesian Resort - Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show!! We love this show, and my son loved the ribs!
Saturday: We have to check out this day, but then we are off to our last breakfast at Disney - 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. I chose this because my daughter may get the chance to see Alice & Mary Poppins, along with other characters that you won't see throughout the parks. After breakfast, I'm guessing we'll hit Downtown Disney before returning home (I think we'll be driving).
I still have a lot more planning to do. There are so many places I want to visit & so many things I want to do that I don't think a week is enough...LOL! I definitely want to look into the campfires, my kids will love this, plus with the new Fantasyland, I will need to plan out all of the rides that we don't want to miss. Ugh, it kind of stinks that we'll be going during such a busy time of year :( Oh well, at least I'll be in Disney!!! Yay!!!
Somewhere during this week I also want to squeeze in a visit to Beaches & Cream-even if its only for icecream! Maybe we'll be brave enough to try the Kitchen Sink....there will be 4 of us! What do you think?
"Don't think, and don't worry. If the time comes, you'll know what to do." ~ Mrs. Incredible
Thinking about interpreting this quote brings me to thoughts of our current family issues. After a death in the family & job loss, it seems a family is falling apart. I sometimes feel like telling my husband to give up, not fight for what's his and just pack up and start all over in another state, away from everyone.....but that's not the answer. I continue to stay strong and supportive of my husband. I try to encourage him to go on & fight & defend what is rightfully his. I continue to look for a good, well-paying job while also exploring new career options that won't take long to learn and have great income potential. We continue to move forward & not take anything away from our kids....they still play baseball, go to private schools, dance & practice gymnastics! We will still try to plan vacations, and attempt to save any money that we can while also eliminating any lingering debt. I strongly believe in my faith, and I believe everything happens for a reason! As hard as my job loss may be, as difficult as the death of a family member has been on an entire family.....we have to believe that it is all for a reason and something better is on the horizon.
Aaahhh, 9:30 pm and I'm finally sitting down in front of my laptop(er, no my son's laptop since mine crashed & burned, LOL)to get this post up! Today was a good day, my son was chosen as an ambassador for his school, so he made a field trip with his school's rep to visit his old grammar school and talk about why his High School is so great! Not only did he earn 2 hours of community service for this, but I didn't have to drive 30 minutes away to pick him up.....no, no, he walked home today...yay!! This gave me plenty of time to clean out my closet. I've been wanting to put away all of our summer clothes, take out our winter clothes and separate any clothes that does not fit to donate! Everything was accomplished...yay me!!! Now I need to find a safe spot to put away all of the plastic bins with our summer clothes :/ Anyway, I"m just glad to have finally gotten that out of the way, now I'm hoping to get our laundry done either tomorrow or Wednesday. The one thing that is at the top of my list for tomorrow is getting all of my daughter's recital costumes, accessories, shoes and make up ready for Sunday. I need to try everything on her to make any last minute adjustments, double & triple check that all accessories are in her case and make sure I have enough makeup and hair spray glitter for the day! I'm really excited even though I will be dead tired by the end of the night. So, I also need to have an idea of what we will be eating this week, so here goes:
MONDAY: Grilled chicken with white rice
TUESDAY: Beef tacos
WEDNESDAY: Pork chops with Black Beans & Rice
THURSDAY: Garlic Shrimp
FRIDAY: Fast food (recital rehearsal at theatre which will last well past 10pm)
I haven't been a part of this in a while, but since I do have some time this morning I decided to join in!
1. Where do you hide junk when people come over?
I throw everything into our walk-in closet, to the point where you cannot walk in anymore! Then it takes me almost an entire day to clean it out!
2. Do political ads help you decide who you are going to vote for?
Absolutely not! I'll watch debates and read up on candidates but I ignore all the political ads.
3. What's your favorite holiday party to host?
Thanksgiving and Christmas!! I love these holidays and I love cooking, so I really enjoy staying home and having others come over!
4. You go to an island with your husband and can only take one personal item. What is it?
Hmmm.....just 1 personal item, that's tough but it would have to be soap! I need to stay clean & smelling good....LOL!
5. If you found out your spouse was a Dexter style serial killer (only kills people to save others) would you rat? This is tough because I don't think anyone has the right to take another's life, but if you are killing evil people that are out there hurting others, then I may just look the other way! OMG...can't believe I said that but he isn't killing innocent people so he may be doing the world a favor.
So its raining today and I'm supposed to be going to the salon to get my hair done.....going from brunette to redhead-aaaahhhhh, what am I thinking, anyway I guess its time for a little change, I just hope I like it! Its funny that this change was inspired by my Halloween costume....Black Widow :)
Anyone else making any changes for the Fall/Winter season?
After coming home with all of our great pumpkins, it was time to do something with them! We carve them in typical Jack'O'Lantern form every year, but this year I found this kit at Walmart and thought it would be fun to try. At first I thought it was all stickers and no carving involved, this is really why I bought it....yes, I'm horrible, I was trying to get away from the mess of carving pumpkins! Well, guess the joke was on me because when I opened it up and read the instructions there was carving involved :/
I couldn't enlarge the enclosed template on my printer, so I did the best I could at drawing the designs myself. LOL, I never said I was an artist!
This is her pumpkin project so she finally came over to paint-although I finished it :/
And here is the finished product :) It wasn't as easy as I thought, but it was fun & best of all, my baby girl LOVES it!!!
