5 Question Friday!!

Okay, so I read this on another blog & I thought it would be fun to link up and give my answers.  Here you go:

1. What's your favorite childhood snack that you still eat as an adult?
Ice pops & Fudge pops...I love them, especially on really hot days like today.

2. What food will you not eat the low fat version of?

I've tried many low fat or diet drinks & food, but the ones that I would never have again are sodas, milk and ice cream. The sodas leave an after taste which I hate, the milk looks like water & the ice cream just tastes different.

3. What's your favorite way to cool off during the summer?

I love going to the beach so this is my favorite way to stay cool, but unfortunately we can only go on the weekends.  During the week I try to stay inside enjoying the air conditioning.

4. What's your favorite summer read?

Well...I have so many--I'm almost finished with the 3rd book of Fifty Shades of Grey, last weekend at the beach I started reading 61 Hours by Lee Child & I have a shelf full of some other books that I intend to read this summer-they range from vampire books to mysteries!

5. What are you doing to stay cool in this awful heat?

Eating ice pops, keeping my window shades down & the air conditioner going--the temperature in my house is not going over 71 degrees :)

This was fun.....hope to do more in the coming weeks!  If you'd like to join, just visit My Little Life and link up!!

A Heavenly Blog.....

In the last few days I have been spending a lot of time online doing various things. Looking for a new job, taking an online course, checking emails, catching up on reading all of the blogs I follow & checking out other blogs that I do not follow.
While doing this, I came across Heavenly Homemakers.  I love reading blogs written by other moms, or dads, which talk about everything about life, from kids, vacations to suggesting new recipes and ideas.  This blog is full of that.  It talks about being a mom, families, struggles, organization ideas, faith & recipes plus much more, I'm sure.  I've only read a few posts, but love it already.
She had a free download, which I absolutely loved being that I love to write everything down on pretty paper, LOL!  These free downloads were for weekly menu planners & matching grocery list.
Here is one:
Summer Menu Planner4

If you'd like to see the other ones, visit Heavenly Homemakers here: New free downloadable menu planners for summertime!

While you are there, you should check out more of her posts.  I thought this blog was a good read with lots of ideas & recipes!

Madagascar 3

This weekend was kind of uneventful.  My daughter was the planner of the house this weekend and spent all week planning a movie outing with her BFF, Victoria!! These girls....SMH....only 6 years old and already making plans to hang out with each other.  Anyway, she came to me with her big blue eyes, asking if I would take her to see Madagascar 3 this weekend with her BFF, LOL!! So I texted her BFF's mom and we agreed to meet on Sunday at 10am!  I always prefer this time since the theater is empty, or so I thought.  I didn't realize that this was the opening weekend, so fortunately, I was there early.  We got our tickets, soda, slushy & popcorn and headed inside to grab our seats.  10 minutes after sitting down, people began arriving....I have never seen this theater get so full at 10:30 in the morning!! Wow!!!

So after 20-30 minutes of waiting, since we were there early, the movie begins.  Now I'm not a big fan of the Madagascar movies....actually I can't remember watching them at all!  I've seen bits & pieces but it was never a movie I sat down to watch from beginning to end.  With that said, I wasn't expecting much and I thought I would be bored but I actually enjoyed it!  It was funny, so colorful and the music was great.  Kids were laughing, dancing & singing along! My daughter enjoyed every second of it!!

I'm really glad that my baby girl planned this little play/movie was fun and since school is almost over, it was nice for her to spend some time with her friend who she probably won't see again until September.

I absolutely recommend this movie, it had my daughter's attention for the entire time & that doesn't happen often!!

Let the Tears Begin!!!

This much anticipated day has finally arrived and although I am excited & proud of my son, I am also a little sad!  He's been 13 for 9 months but now it has finally hit me that he is a teenager!! A high school freshman in September!!!  Wow!! He was great dressed up without giving me a hard time, took pictures without complaints...didn't smile for all of them but I can't push my luck :)
The graduation was wonderful, and ofcourse, I had to work very hard at fighting back the tears.  One of his classmates sang 'Hero', and she did a beautiful job! What a voice! Thanks to her the tears finally broke through, not much and thankfully I was able to keep it together, LOL.....I am an emotional mess!!  After her wonderful performance they gave out the diplomas & medals.  The girls left the boys in the dust when it came to these awards!  LOL, we kept waiting for any boy to be called but it was all girls, until we got close to the end.  Some boys, including my son, finally got a medal for different areas.  My son received a medal for Christian Character-being very kind and helpful.  Yep, that's my son!!

I also wanted to make a little video of old pictures, something showing my son's life from the day he was born up until now you know I've been crying for most of the day :/ Anyway, here it is-hope you enjoy:

Another Weekend Gone.....

Well, I should be saying goodnight instead of writing this post, but if I don't do it now, I may not be able to do it later.  Busy doesn't even begin to describe my life right now.  Friday was a bit laid back, baseball practice cancelled so it was just dance class for my daughter and I was able to stay home & cook.  Saturday was a bit more hectic.  I was up really early, and around 9am got my daughter up too.  Today is the day that her pictures for her dance recital program are taken, and this takes at least half a day.  We had to arrive at Oneida's Dance Studio at 10am, not a big deal since I live a few blocks away.  Once we arrive, some girls are already there and taking their pictures.  We run upstairs and set up our area!  Fortunately, I did her hair and makeup at home, so all I had to do was change her clothes.  Yes, this is a huge process, make-up, hair, clothes & accessories!!!  I get her into her first costume-this one is for ballet & I totally love it!!
It's so colorful & fun!! So she goes ahead and takes her solo pictures, but now has to wait for all of the other girls to get there so they can take the group picture.  OK, after almost an hour they got the group picture & we were back upstairs changing costumes.  Next up is the hip-hop costume.
This costume is cute, more fun than cute! LOL!! She loves the finger-less gloves!  After solo shots and group pics, we change into another one.  Now it was time for jazz....Hawaiian costume....this one is really adorable!!
And the best is a Lilo & Stitch song that they'll be dancing to, can't wait to see them on stage :D you know the drill, back up for the last costume change!  It's Salsa time!!!

This is by far my all time favorite!!! It is absolutely adorable!!!
Once we finished with solo pics & group, we packed up, ordered pizza hut & went home to eat!  Now, maybe you are wondering if my son had baseball, since it seems he has games every weekend, well yeah! He was supposed to have a game & my hubby was in charge of that today.  Unfortunately, once they arrive at the field, the other coach was still trying to drain the field.  We've had so much rain, that the field was mud....there was no way they were going to have that field ready for game time, so it was cancelled!

The next day we were up around 9am, had breakfast at home and got ready to head out to my son's Buzz game in Yonkers.  The game was good, my son pitched the first 4 innings.

They sat him for the 5th and that is when the drops began.  At first it was only a few drops, so I took my daughter and we sat in the car.  Then the drops were coming down a bit more, so Laz, my hubby, gets in the car too.  We give our son an umbrella, since he does have to stay out on the bench with his teammates.  Then, all of a sudden, it was like a hose was turned on and aimed at us!! The rain was really coming down & the umps just called out "Game over" & coaches telling the kids "go, grab your stuff & get out of here" LOL, it was madness!!

I did manage to take a couple of pictures before the game was called, and you can see the rain drops in the pictures! LOL, poor kids.....they got soaked!!

So, we came back home and when we were getting close the rain had stopped.  We got home and I cooked dinner and then looked out the window and saw this........
Absolutely beautiful!!!
