Well, if you are a regular on my blog, you may have noticed my Disney trip countdown over on the right! It's been changed twice....YES-TWICE!! Last year we planned on going the week right after Thanksgiving but between the death of a family member and financial woes, we had to postpone it. We decided on going this year, again the week after Thanksgiving but this time our son is in his first year of high school and after much discussion we think it is not a good idea for him to miss a whole week of school. If he were a straight A student, then maybe yes, but he struggles with his schoolwork and I know that if he is out for a week, it will take him forever to catch up-I can't let his grades suffer over a vacation. Plus, we are still a bit tight on cash since I've been unemployed since June. So, our third attempt at this vacation will be for Easter week! This isn't ideal...we will be there in one of the busiest times of the year, prices are higher, parks will be crowded but it is in the Spring so I'm hoping it won't be too hot-hubby hates being at the parks in the middle of the summer-and the kids will be on vacation so no school will be missed! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this time it will happen!!! I've already made our ADR's so here is a pre-trip report in the making. I haven't really thought every detail out yet, but I have an idea of what our days will look like.
We will be leaving Jersey on Thursday(if driving) or Friday(if flying)-not sure how we are getting there yet! LOL!
I have made reservations at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort for 3 nights. I am hoping to get my kids to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Sea World. I would love to fit in a day at Discovery Cove, but I don't think we will have time.
We check out of the Nickelodeon Suites on Monday and then head to Disney's Art of Animation Resort where we will be for the next 5 nights! So, I will be planning our days around our ADR's.....we love eating at Disney, so here is the plan thus far:
Monday: head into Epcot for lunch at Via Napoli-our first time here and I'm really looking forward to it! After lunch we'll probably continue to walk around the World Showcase before heading over to Disney's Fort Wilderness for the dinner show, Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue - another first :) can't wait!!
Tuesday: This will be a really early morning for us since we are having breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table. This will be our 3rd time here, we love it....the food isn't anything special but the experience is wonderful! My daughter LOVES Cinderella and just being able to eat inside the castle and meet all of the princesses while we eat is so magical! It really puts us in a great mood for the rest of the day! This day looks like it will be a Magic Kingdom day - all day! I didn't plan for a lunch, we'll just grab some snacks unless we get really hungry. If this is the case, then I would love to stop by Be Our Guest Restaurant for lunch-which should be a Quick Service meal around this time. Dinner will be over at Chef Mickey's so we'll probably grab the monorail to get there and then come back to MK for fireworks!
Wednesday: Another early morning, except that instead of heading into a park, we are going to the Polynesian Resort for breakfast at 'Ohana. Another first, so I'm hoping that we all enjoy the food and experience! After 'Ohana we'll probably go to Epcot to enjoy areas of the park that we missed on Monday, and then have dinner at The Garden Grill Restaurant. This will also be the first time we eat here so, again I'm hoping for the best. My family can be a bit picky when it comes to food, LOL!
Thursday: I didn't plan a breakfast for today so we'll probably grab something at the resort before heading out to Hollywood Studios. Lunch will be at Mama Melrose's and then later that night we will catch Fantasmic!
Friday: Back to MK for breakfast at the Crystal Palace. After breakfast I may decide to get everyone out and into Animal Kingdom, hmmm-I may change my breakfast plans here :( I can't believe I forgot about planning a day in Animal Kingdom...well, I have time to work it out! Then dinner will be at the Polynesian Resort - Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show!! We love this show, and my son loved the ribs!
Saturday: We have to check out this day, but then we are off to our last breakfast at Disney - 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. I chose this because my daughter may get the chance to see Alice & Mary Poppins, along with other characters that you won't see throughout the parks. After breakfast, I'm guessing we'll hit Downtown Disney before returning home (I think we'll be driving).
I still have a lot more planning to do. There are so many places I want to visit & so many things I want to do that I don't think a week is enough...LOL! I definitely want to look into the campfires, my kids will love this, plus with the new Fantasyland, I will need to plan out all of the rides that we don't want to miss. Ugh, it kind of stinks that we'll be going during such a busy time of year :( Oh well, at least I'll be in Disney!!! Yay!!!
Somewhere during this week I also want to squeeze in a visit to Beaches & Cream-even if its only for icecream! Maybe we'll be brave enough to try the Kitchen Sink....there will be 4 of us! What do you think?
