I've finally made it to the end of October and Halloween. I'm already in Christmas mode, but since I loved my daughter's costume this year, I can't just skip it!
Since we were hit by Super storm Sandy last year, we didn't get to go trick or treating. My daughter still got dressed up but was very unhappy that we couldn't go get candy, so this year she was determined that we'd go - rain or shine. I had to work this day and couldn't leave work until 5:30! By the time I got home, changed into my costume, got her ready and picked up my friend and my godson it was 7pm and so dark, cold and windy. The good thing is that it hadn't started raining yet so I was rushing to get going. Trick or treating from house to house is hard in our area because there aren't too many homes that participate - one of my many reasons to move out of this area! We started walking and we'd find 2 to 3 home on a block that gave out candy, then we'd find a block t…
Fall is here and even though it isn't my favorite season, we do have a few things that I love to do! Some of them are family traditions from when I was a child and others are new traditions that I've started with my husband and kids.
One of our favorite Fall activities is pumpkin picking. We started 14 years ago, when my son was a year old and I don't think we've ever skipped a year.
This year we did a few things differently - we added apple picking and visited a new farm. This year we went to Wightmans Farm in Morristown, NJ. It was a very big farm and we had a blast!
After we selected our pumpkins, we moved on to the apple orchards.
We went home with 2 huge bags of apples. Now I have to make homemade applesauce and apple pie - need to do something with all these apples!
Do you feel like you are just standing still while time is just flying by? This is exactly how I'm feeling lately - where did September and October go??? Well, as fast as they went they were just as memorable. We had a whole baseball season, everyone went back to school and regular routines without any major issues. The weather was great during the past 2 months for baseball, we had gorgeous days, not too much rain and the boys actually played all of their scheduled games. Here's a little recap of the season:
Dance was also back in full swing and last weekend they had their yearly recital to show off everything they've worked so hard on all year. Here's a recap of the dance recital:
It was a good baseball season and a great show, I'm very proud of both my kids!! Now its time to prepare for the rest of Fall and all of the Winter fun!
