Weekend Trip to Niagara Falls, Canada~Part 1

So for Memorial Day Weekend, we took a trip to Niagara Falls.  We planned it last minute, so there wasn't much pre-planning done.  We just searched for a nearby hotel that would be super affordable, since we didn't want to spend much money.  We came across the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Niagara Falls and the price was just right so we booked it.  It turned out to be about a 10-minute drive to the Falls but it was clean and in a good enough area.

Saturday morning we left our apartment at 5:30 AM, hubby drove and both baby girl & I slept for most of the drive.

We stopped somewhere in NY at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  This place NEVER disappoints - I love it, actually we all Love it!!  This was the 1st time we ever stopped in for breakfast and there is so much to choose from!  My first choice was a S'Mores Latte - OMG!!! It was delicious!!  Just what I needed.

See...just what I needed!

Hubby & baby girl got a breakfast platter with eggs, bacon & hashbrowns, but I needed the carbs....so pancakes was the way to go.

A few hours later we were driving through the NY/Canada border.  We went straight to the hotel to check-in, drop off our bags & freshen up.

I normally take pictures of the hotels we stay at, but this time I totally failed in this department.  I guess the early morning really took a toll on me & my brain wasn't at a 100%
:)
We headed to the Skylon Tower because we had lunch reservations but since we were early, we walked around for a bit.

This view was absolutely beautiful!!  As soon as I saw this view, I was immediately happy that we crossed the border to see it from the Canada side.

Another thing that both baby girl & me were happy about was seeing a Starbucks everywhere we turned!! Yay!! We had a Starbucks drink every day.

We headed back to the restaurant to make our way up the tower.  I will admit, I was a bit scared to get into this elevator and go up so high!

But, once I was in and we went up, it wasn't too bad.  I did feel a little light-headed, and the revolving dining room didn't help, but all that went away once we were seated.

The views were spectacular.  I actually regret not making dinner reservations here.  We would've been able to enjoy the fireworks from here.

The menu was great and we had plenty to choose from including drinks.  This was the French Martini and it was really good!

I ordered the grilled chicken Ceasar Salad, and it was great

Baby girl had Tortellini Alfredo

and hubby had the chopped beef tenderloin burger.

Then as we were finishing up lunch, we wanted the souvenir glass so hubby & I split a Pina Colada, which by the way was also very good!

This restaurant was great, a bit pricey but definitely worth the splurge.

After lunch, we went back to the Falls and made our way down to the Hornblower Cruises!

This cruise was fun!  I really didn't think I'd get soaked....LOL, I actually thought that flimsy little poncho was going to keep me dry!!

WROOOOONNNNNGGGG!!!

By the way, thank God for waterproof cameras!!

It was such a different experience being on this boat in the river, right in front of these massive falls!  So amazing! I've never been this close to any waterfalls and these were just breathtaking.

I also loved seeing these rainbows.  Taking pictures and video became a bit challenging due to the mist.

At this point we were getting very, very close to the falls so we ran inside....LOL!! It didn't help - by this time I was already drenched!

No regrets though....we had a blast!

We made our back to the top & walked back to the car but took our time and took some more pictures.

and this is life with a dancer...............

waiting for us to finish....he's the best!

We grabbed another cup of Starbucks and thought of heading back to our hotel.  We were supposed to go to dinner at the Keg Steakhouse but none of us were hungry so I canceled the reservations.  Instead, we went to an outlet mall!!

Here hubby surprised me with a stop at the Pandora store and bought me the Niagara Falls charm.  Then we did some shopping at Hot Topic and walked around.  When we were done here, we went by a grocery store, bought some things for our room and went back to the hotel.

Once we were back at the hotel, we all got comfy & fell asleep by 9:30pm!
We were exhausted!!!

Next week I'll have the 2nd & last day of this Memorial Day Weekend getaway!
